Substance Abuse Recovery Services

"It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication, willpower and sacrifice. You will need to push your body to its max. There will be temptation. But I promise, it's worth it."

The East Los Angeles Women's Center provides Substance Abuse Recovery Services.  Recovery Groups for women are facilitated by a Master's Level Social Worker and certified drug and alcohol counselors. Recovery Groups are ongoing, that provide mutual therapeutic support for adult women who are also healing from relational trauma, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, or other ruptures to interpersonal relationships. Group members are in recovery from drug and alcohol dependence or have been in relationships with parents, siblings, children or partners who abuse substances. Group members are guided each week through exercises using an evidence based curriculum focused on recovery and trauma.

The innovative, evidence-based program integrates theories of women’s psychological development, trauma, and addiction to meet the needs of women with addictive disorders. The group addresses the areas that women in treatment identify as triggers for relapse: self, relationships, sexuality and spirituality. They include the issues of self-esteem, sexism, family of origin, relationships, domestic violence, and trauma.  Exercises enable each participant to create their path to healing and recovery. Other services include individual therapy, relapse prevention, yoga and mindfulness and case management.
